Many people of all age groups are annoyed or plagued by unwanted hair. Fortunately, with advances in laser technology, unwanted hair has become a thing of the past for many.
In general hair that is coarse and dark is most suitable for laser hair removal. However brown or medium dark hair is also targeted by our laser. Fine facial or body hair (vellus hair, "peach fuzz"), grey or light blonde hair is not usually suitable. At your consultation your skin colour will be assessed and an appropriate laser treatment planned whether your skin be fair, medium, olive or darker.
At our clinic treatments are delayed if you are sun-tanned, we simply wait for your tan to fade before performing a treatment as this will provide you with the best results possible. Following your treatment you may tan if you wish. Almost any area of the body can be suitable for hair removal although we do not shape eyebrows. Common areas of treatment in women include the face, neck, jawline, chin, upper lip, bikini area, breasts, abdomen, axillae (arm pits), arms and legs while in men the chest and back are frequently treated. At our clinic we do not treat children or adolescent teens with laser hair removal.

The IPL process uses intense pulsed light to gently remove unwanted hair, putting an end to routine shaving and waxing. IPL treatments leave your skin looking and feeling smoother and silkier. This patented technology transcends the older, painful hair removal treatments to deliver long lasting results. IPL's wide beam treats larger areas such as the back, shoulders, arms, legs and face rather than treating one hair at a time. Best of all, IPL treatments are a safe, fast, gentle and effective alternative method for hair removal.
We consider IPL and radiofrequency hair removal to be a medical procedure requiring a treatment plan and best undertaken in a clinic with active, knowledgeable and experienced physician involvement and only after a thorough consultation as it is crucial that both clinic/physician and patient expectations are discussed. Our before and after unaltered photographs demonstrate the possibilities!
Unlike other types of hair removal lasers that use a single light wavelength concentration, such as the Alexandrite Laser or the Diode Laser, IPL lasers use a full spectrum of light wavelengths. IPL lasers can alter the intensity of its pulsed light beams with various filters, but it can't be refined to a single wavelength. Some patients and professionals claim that the IPL's greater wavelength spectrum equals less precision and less control, which could mean an increased risk of burns and hair removal side effects with misuse.
IPL lasers are sometimes available with combined radio frequency, or RF, benefits, like with the popular Aurora laser series. The addition of radio frequencies is alleged to help improve skin texture and clear up troubled complexions. Radio frequencies attempt to heat up and energize skin tissue, which can increase collagen production and create firmer skin tissue. IPL lasers with RF energy will be more beneficial when used for anti-aging skin care treatments, rather than for laser hair removal.
One of the biggest reasons why IPL lasers are so popular in the hair removal industry is the lower cost. On average, IPL treatments are cheaper than the standard cost of laser hair removal. Additionally, they can treat larger skin portions at a time, so areas like the legs and back can be treated in a fraction of the time required with standard lasers.
